About Me

What I love about food is how all-encompassing it is.

It sustains us, it flavors our memories and evokes primal emotion. It brings friends, cultures and even continents together, indulging each of the 5 senses along the way. It is a major topic of conversation and it is constantly evolving.

And if you’re me, it’s incredibly exciting.

Hi, I’m Nicole. But you can call me Nicoleslaw. I started this blog as a way to track restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of dining at, and to share my food experiences. If you’re reading this you probably love food…maybe even as much as me! I created this blog to share my honest, relatable, and (in my humble opinion) funny reviews on restaurants in NYC and other notable food-cities I find myself eating in.

A little bit about me

I moved to New York in the summer of 2015 after graduating from a Master’s Program in Marketing in San Francisco. Before my move to the Big Apple I was completing my Bachelor’s degree in Montreal, where I cultivated my love for Canadian delicacies such as poutine and Nanimo bars while effectively learning how to survive in sub-arctic temperatures (NY winters ain’t got nothing on Montreal ones)! I’ve also spent a good amount of time eating in some other notable cities as well – some of which you can read about in this blog!

Fun Facts

Octopus is the one dish I won’t order. Not only do I find them extremely cute, but they’re also incredibly smart.

I had the insane experience of dining at Massimo Bottura’s Modena gem, Osteria Francescana last December. Something I’m still drooling about to this day.

My guilty pleasures include: milk chocolate almonds, Uni, and corn dogs.
