Brunch so hard, brooklyners wanna fine me. Not to brag but, my brunch game has been on point lately. With High Street, Jack’s Wife, and The Dutch as notches on my brunching belt I felt graduated enough to take on the recently opened Sunday in Brooklyn.

For starters, the restaurant takes reservations, which is a pretty big game-changer when those AM cravings hit, and point-blank, weekends are simply too precious to be wasted in lines. The ambiance here alone is spectacular. An open kitchen and wood-burning oven take center stage while exposed brick wall, marble tables, and painted pottery dishware softly accent the summer cabin ~vibes~. The smells of fresh coffee and baking bread loom. Coupled with the friendly waiter service, and pristinely packed bar, I itch to pack my bags from the EV, and pay rent to live here, in this restaurant, forever.

All jokes aside, let’s get down to business because I sincerely don’t want to bore you before we dig in to the meat of this blog post – the food. I was warned before our visit that the malted pancakes are a must-order. I was lucky enough to split 50/50 with an egg & sausage, savory, to compliment the sweet. The pancakes are exquisite. If you can envision Ferrero Rocher melted on top of fluffy doughy pancakes, you’ve sampled what this dish is about. The hazelnut praline and brown butter mix together to form a thick sauce that competes with desserts and truffles (apparently), alike.

The egg and sausage was the real deal. With seasoned sausage that practically melted into the fluffy whipped scrambled egg, the simple bases of this dish were cooked and spiced to perfection. The brioche, although sadly a little burnt, was a fluffy compliment to hold the aioli, cheddar, and crispy, curly potato that garnished the top of the sandwich like fried onion would a hot dog.

Reasonable prices accompany each of these dishes and make it scary easy to add onto the meal with sides, drinks, and booze. #EntryLevelJobLife meant that the food and a simple black coffee was the cap of my order, but I would be lying if I didn’t say my eye wasn’t on the steady stream of delicious looking Mezcal Bloody Mary’s leaving the bar.
I’ll be back.
